The St. Malo Warriors and Beausejour Comets started their best of seven championship series on Friday night in St. Malo.
St. Malo broke the ice when Damon Johnson (T. Fillion) scored to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead.
Beausejour was able to answer just over a minute later when Jarvis Ewasko (Lemoine, Bear) would tie things up at 1.
The second period was a two sided period. In the first half the Warriors came out scoring three times to take a 4-1 lead thanks to goals by Teagan Fillion (Worley, Little), Damon Johnson (T. Fillion), and Damon Johnson (Magne, Dubois).
The second half of the second was all Beausejour, where they would battle back to tie the game at 4 by the end of the period thanks to goals by Jaiden Reeb (Beaudette), Merrick Hurcul (Brannen, Bloomfield), and Clint Thomas (Hurcul).
St. Malo would take the lead once again in the third when Teagan Fillion (Johnson, L. Fillion) would score his second of the night.
Beausejour was able to answer back on the powerplay when Ryden Lemoine (Miller, Tirschman) to tie the game at 5.
The Comets were able to take their first lead of the game with one minute left in the game thanks to Liam Johnston and giving them the game 1 victory.
Game 2 goes tonight in Beausejour at 8:30PM where the Warriors will look to tie the series.
