The St. Malo Warriors welcomed the Arborg Ice Dawgs to town for a showdown between the second and third place teams in the CRJHL.
The Warriors would get off to a good start when Braeden McFarlane (Gosselin) scored to get the Warriors on the board.
Evan Wuerch (Dubois, Collette) would quickly add to their lead in the final minute of the 1st period to take a 2-0 lead into intermission.
Mid-way through the second the Ice Dawgs would get on the board courtesy of a goal by Kalen Guimond (Einarson) to cut the lead to one.
Ashton Dubois (Wuerch) would quickly regain the two-goal lead only a minute later.
Ashton Dubois (Wuerch) would get his second of the game scoring seconds into the third period to take a commanding 4-1 lead.
The Ice Dawgs would score two quick goals mid-way through the second thanks to goals by Dixon Moneas (Guimond) and Kalen Guimond (Einarson, Johanneson) that would make it a 4-3 game.
Cole Holdnick would seal the game when he found the empty net with :31 seconds remaining giving the Warriors a 5-3 victory.
Jesse Morris was stellar in net with 41 saves on 44 shots.
The Warriors are back in-action Sunday afternoon when the visiting Selkirk Fishermen come to town for a 2pm puck drop.
